A road network has been constructed throughout the island; Jadrolinija ferry lines Split - Supetar, Makarska - Sumartin; ship lines with Supetar and Bol. Airport 'Brac' (for smaller aircraft) is located above Bol. Bol is the oldest coastal settlement on Brač. It exists in the solitude of the southern landscape, at the foot of the Bol crown and Vidova Mountain – the highest island peak and at the same time the highest point of all Adriatic islands (778 m). Bol has many beautiful beaches. To the west from Bol lies the beach Zlatni rat (Golden Horn) one of the largest and most beautiful attractions of the Adriatic. We invite you to explore this unique island that offers everything one needs for an unforgettable holiday in an unspoiled natural enviroment. Rich cultural and historic heritage that dates back to pre-historic times, unique gastronomy, beautiful beaches and bays, crystal blue sea, high quality accommodation in private facilities and the hospitality of the local people are the guarantees of a holiday you will always remember. The climatic characteristics Brac are mild and rainy winters, dry and warm summers, and great differences in temperature between the places along the sea and those above 500 meters. The north parts are exposed in winter to the cold blows of the "bura" from the mainland, especially from Vrulja below the Biokovo Mountain. BRAC: Just out to sea from the city of Split, lies the island of Brac, the highest and third largest island in the Adriatic. Pine forests, olive grooves, and vineyards are plentiful. The white stone of Brac has been used in many famous buildings, including the White House in Washington, DC. The Glagolitic stone "Pustinja Blaca” is the most peculiar architectural monument on the island and above Murvica there is the Drahonja Cave with valuable relieves carved into stone. Traditional seaside pleasures are to be found in the numerous bays, on sandy and gravel beaches that form the long and well-indented coast of Brac.Source: www.bol.hr / www.bracinfo.com |
